Let’s have a look at some of the projects you can do to update your home when on a budget:

Update the paintwork

A really simple way to update your home is to get out the paintbrush and give your painted areas either a fresh coat of the same colour or a colour update. Simply painting the white areas of your home such as the doors, skirting boards and radiators can make it feel and look cleaner and newer. If you have painted walls, they can fade over time so giving them a fresh coat will do the same, you could always change the colour too. If you’re renting always make sure you check with your landlord before decorating.

Add a featured wall

Something that is still at the height of fashion and can be seen in many homes is featured walls. Nearly every room in peoples home now has a feature wall. Long gone are the days of having four patterned walls. If your walls are fairly neutral it can be really quick and easy just to change one wall in order to update the look of your home. Whether you go for something subtle, dramatic or even add a wall mural it’s bound to have an impact and change the look of any room.

Update your furniture

It doesn’t have to be all about decorating, you can easily update the look of your home with new furniture. You can add in complete matching sets, unique pieces and if you’re on a budget Used furniture is a great way to achieve the look you want. If you can’t find the statement piece that you’re after, then you could try an upcycle project. Pinterest has some fantastic ideas with easy to follow step to step guides on how to achieve different styles and looks.

Finishing touches

When updating your home it can be really easy to forget about the finishing touches. These are just as important as decorating and maintenance. It’s really easy to add in finishing touches on a budget, with places like Primark, charity shops and thrift stores often having very budget-friendly options. Merely changing your curtains, adding in some throw cushions or changing your bedding can have an impact on the look of your home. Especially if you have a blank canvas to work with, as you are able to add in the finishing touches as a splash of colour, and then change it as often as you like.

These are just a few of the ways that you update your home when on a budget, do you have any other methods that you can share in the comments below?
