Wood Create’s custom handmade furniture commissions and projects

In this article, I invite you to embark on a journey through the realm of my custom woodworking projects and commissions. Step into a world where wood comes to life, and creativity knows no bounds.

Over the past few years, my workshop has buzzed with a delightful array of orders, each one unique and captivating. From elegant furniture pieces to bespoke creations, I have had the privilege to showcase my skillset and bring visions to reality.

What brings me the utmost joy is witnessing the appreciation and admiration my designs receive. It is truly fulfilling to see my work find its place in people’s lives, as they recognize the craftsmanship and attention to detail that goes into each piece.

What sets my creations apart is the use of predominantly reclaimed materials. It’s a testament to the magic of transformation as discarded wood is reborn into cherished furniture that will stand the test of time. The knowledge that I am breathing new life into forgotten materials is nothing short of extraordinary.

Now, without any particular order, allow me to present to you some of my recent favourite pieces. Join me in celebrating the beauty and artistry of custom woodworking at its finest.

Custom outdoor seating area

outdoor garden sofa finished cushions

A personal project that has been an absolute dream come true. This beautiful sofa and coffee table have completely transformed our outdoor living space. Made from solid Iroko wood and finished with some foam seating cushions and scatter cushions, it’s a really comfortable and functional space to enjoy the garden.

Built in wardrobe

A friend of ours approached me asking if I’d like to build them a bespoke built in wardrobe in their new house.  They’d seen some of my furniture and our own built in wardrobe and fancied something for their son’s attic bedroom.  I hadn’t built anything this big before but after seeing the space and mentally visualising the finished article I thought I could do something really special and unique in that space.  Here is the final product.

Industrial dining table

I rescued this slab of wood a day before it was being taken to the skip and I’m glad I did as although it needed quite a bit of work the final product turned out beautiful.  I listed it on eBay and just days after I had about 40 watchers. Another couple of days later it sold to a local guy who was looking for something a little different from the “mass produced flat pack Ikea crap” (his words!)  I also listed this on our intranet at work and received a custom order.

Mid century modern desk

The mid century design era was heavily influenced by Scandinavian, simplistic and somewhat organic design back in the 50s and today is still very much alive and back on trend for the modern home.  And I just love it.  This has to be my favourite piece of all and possibly the most technically difficult I’ve made.  In 2019 I plan to expand the range with bedside tables, coffee tables and TV/Sideboard tables and stands.  Again, these items will all be available in custom sizes to suit any interior space. Take a look at my shop for more options and pricing.

iPad stand

This secure wooden iPad stand is perfect for a number of applications including a reception area check in desk, point of sale (POS) till system or display unit for video demos or product catalogues.  This one was made for Superdry’s reception area as a bespoke order and the rustic wood fits in right at home next to the rustic board cladding.  The stand offers  a secure way to lock the iPad into location and prevents any tampering or theft.  Ideal for their global digital brand and custom made rustic reception.

Self built shed

OK, so this isn’t quite furniture but it was great fun to build and I do use it to store all my furniture.  Built from scratch this 12 x 10ft shed is an ideal storage solution for all my creations and believe it or not it was cheaper than the equivalent size flat pack shed.  you can read more here and see my step-by-step guide on how to build your own and where to find the materials.  It still needs a little work to build a nice path or patio area around the outside but I’m saving that for the warmer weather.  I’ll probably end up building a bigger one at some point as my empire expands but for now it’s perfect.

Industrial coffee table

This simple but attractive coffee table was a commission for a colleague at work.  They really liked my industrial dining table and wanted something in a similar colour but with the hairpin legs.  The industrial look is very popular right now so there will be plenty more where this came from for my collection of reclaimed, rustic items.
